Flower Mountain was the private home in Bali of Dr. Robert E. Brown, founder and long-time president of the Center for World Music, a nonprofit organization established in 1965 whose primary purpose is to foster awareness and understanding of the world's performing arts and cultural traditions through programs of performance and teaching. Over the years–in cooperation with Yayasan Senia Dunia Tradisional, a local non-profit arts organization–he created facilities on the premises for those who are interested in world arts, and especially the arts of Bali. These facilities include accommodations of different types, two kitchens, a library and outdoor theater, and pavilions for workshop classes and dining.
